Goddess Tribe Yoga Retreat in Costa Rica
Join the Goddess Tribe on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica January 6-15, 2017 for yoga, adventures, rejuvenation and more. You will be living your practice in a land where life abounds everywhere, friendship and pineapple grow spontaneously, kindness flows naturally, fear evaporates, joy runs rampant and walls are entirely optional. This magical-healing paradise is my happiest place on earth. I can’t wait to be here with you!
Honoring Satya (the yogic practice of truthfulness), the words and images on this site came directly from my personal experience in the very locations that we will explore, practice and live in together. My husband took the majority of the pictures while I took it all in.
I’m Betsy, a soul-adventurer and lover of life in all its forms.
It is my passion and great joy to journey alongside you supporting your growth and renewal in mind, body and soul. I first began exploring the ancient healing arts as a child, studying and teaching martial arts. This led me to research and teach meditation and to an undergraduate focus in psychology and psychobiology. Today, my yoga practice is the fullest expression of my gifts and studies. I currently specialize in Myofascial Release with Yoga Tune Up® Therapy and creative, Prana Flow inspired Bhakti Vinyasa Yoga. Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500, Yoga Tune Up® Teacher Certified, BA Psychology.
The Goddess Tribe
My teacher-friend Cosetta Romani beautifully said, “Community is our new currency and us women are naturally inclined to support one another when we recognize our interdependence.” Held in the power, compassion, and brilliance of the Goddess Tribe that we will become through our shared experience and intention, you will find inspiration and support to release fear that has kept you too small for too long and expand beyond your perceived limitations. In beautiful synchronicity, you’ll shine-up your radiant Self while serving as a mirror and guide for others—even as they reflect and hold you. I love men, but this retreat is for women only. Jai Ma!
The Osa Peninsula
On the southwest coast of Costa Rica, the Osa’s lush, vibrant jungles and warm, glistening beaches are home to 2.5% of the world’s biodiversity and more plant biodiversity than anywhere else in North America. The peaceful and progressively-down-to-earth community strives to preserve and enjoy the natural beauty of the peninsula and our presence supports their dream and mantra — Pura Vida! Expect to be welcomed with open arms and greeted with smiles from proud-boasting locals. And there are monkeys—so many monkeys! In vibrant rainforests and glistening beaches we will unplug and reconnect to the Essential, returning to wholeness and re-aligning with the power of the divine feminine within, collectively and in Mama Nature.
In the Osa we will live in harmony with Nature and her rhythms, lulled to sleep by the jungle’s orchestra and awakened by the call of the Howler monkey. Our off-the-grid eco retreat is submerged in pristine jungle and beaches and surrounded by farmland. The open air, eco-chic cabinas are solar powered and consciously and artfully built by hand—in fact not a single living tree was harmed in their creation! With amazing vibes all around, wild life goes on undisturbed while you get maid service! In San Jose we will bookend our adventure with a 1 night stay in the countryside just 10 minutes from the airport in a quirky yet inviting and eco-conscious, family-owned hotel with an impressive orchid garden and the company of two sweet dogs.
In both San Jose and the Osa you’ll eat very well, enjoying three delightful locally-sourced and organic (when possible) meals per day. Eating close-to-the-earth and lovingly prepared meals inspired by a variety of ethnicities will nourish your body and feed your soul. Dietary needs such as vegan and gluten free will be deliciously accommodated by request and wine and beer will be available to purchase.
Yoga, Meditation and Ceremonies
Our yoga practices, meditation sessions and ceremonies will honor the rhythm of our adventure, the cosmos and the land. A typical morning begins in sacred silence, guided meditation and journaling, followed by a Solar Bhakti Vinyasa yoga practice that will get your blood and prana flowing. If we time it right, we could practice with a family of White-Faced monkeys swinging and sunbathing in the trees shading the yoga stage, but surely we will be soothed by the sound of the ocean and delighted by the sight of tropical birds flying overhead. We will return to the yoga stage in the evening for a Lunar Myofascial Release Yoga Tune Up®, Restorative or Yoga Nidra practice to cool, soothe, and quiet body, mind, and soul. In celebration of the Full Moon in Cancer, we will bathe in her glow and experience the magic of an ocean-side Sound Healing Moon Bath and Ceremony, and we will open and close our Goddess Tribe retreat with ceremonies to yoke us to our intentions, Spirit, and each other. The extent of your participation in yoga classes is entirely up to you, but your presence is requested both for your individual growth and for the solidarity of our Goddess Tribe.
Adventures and Leisure
Your time on the Osa is precious — use it to take the best care of you. Much like my yoga classes, rest when you need to rest and add intensity when you crave more. Tap into your inner-wisdom and be an active player in the manifestation of your health and happiness. We will choose our excursions day-to-day as a group and if you’d rather hang back and nap in a hammock or schedule a massage, do it! No FOMO here! Sometimes the greatest luxury is simplicity — relax and enjoy the Pura Vida.

Getting There and Back
After landing in Costa Rica on January 6, hop in a taxi and join us for dinner! We will spend one night in San Jose then board a 12 passenger plane the next morning to fly 40 minutes Southwest. Our scenic mini-flight will land on the Osa Peninsula then we’ll take a short drive on a picturesque dirt road through farmland and beaches. We will travel in the same way to return to San Jose at the end of our retreat before flying home on January 15.
On our 2 nights in San Jose (first and last nights of the retreat) we will have a delicious dinner followed by Yoga Nidra and a lite breakfast in the morning before we catch our flights. We will have 7 full days and nights on the Osa, each with new sights and delights, honoring silence through breakfast and flowing to a rhythm like this: meditation, solar yoga, breakfast, adventures, lunch, leisure time, lunar yoga, dinner.
