Lavender Island Retreat
On June 8 to 11th, Betsy and Maria want to take you to Vashon Island for an extended weekend of luxury, yoga, heart connection and beauty on a lavender farm on the water’s edge. Won’t you join us? We’ll send you home with dirty feet, a happy heart and a rejuvenated body.
Betsy and Maria are teacher, student and friend to each other. They know that together they are greater than the sum of their parts so they alchemize their gifts and talents - uplifting and complimenting each other to make magic happen for you!
Growing up, Betsy was either sweating at the dojo or dance studio or looking after her sister or rescued animals. Her innate curiosity (and being homeschooled) segued into a lifetime of self and other study. She went on to teach martial arts, nanny, and research and teach Meditation, Psychobiology and Women’s Health. She now shares teachings that alchemize eastern wisdom and western science, are inspired by nature and advocate for compassionate and just living. Betsy encourages her students to study themselves, lean into what challenges them and take ownership of their power, wellness and joy. She enjoys teaching Vinyasa classes and specializes in fascial health, offering Myofascial Release classes, workshops, teacher trainings and retreats locally and globally. Maria came to yoga through the difficult experience of losing her mother to cancer. Yoga provided an incredible space for solace and healing during this transition. The practice changed her life and she quickly developed the deep desire to share it with others. Maria believes in the inherent love and strength of all people and that yoga expands our capacity to release what no longer serves us while inspiring us to reveal our very best selves. She specializes in Yoga Nidra (with over 150 hours of Nidra training) and also enjoys teaching Restorative and Vinyasa Flow. Additionally, Maria is a Learning & Development Coordinator and a Professional Facilitator who thrives on building connections with like-minded and heart-centered people. Also known as the “heart of the sound”, Vashon Island is an almost secret destination filled with friendly locals who invite you to explore their beautiful beaches, woodsy trails and art galleries and to buy kale and flowers from unmanned farm stands on the honor system. While it is the largest island in the Puget, it has a population of just 10,000, is home to a handful of small family owned farms, Orcas, and the only traffic jams are on the sidewalk where townsfolk stop to chat with their friends, neighbors and strangers alike. With an incredibly easy 22 minute ferry ride from Seattle, we can’t imagine a better place to recharge and escape the hustle of city life!
Lavender Hill Farm
In this charming 1930's farmhouse overlooking 1500 lavender plants, Quartermaster Harbor, Mount Rainier and the Cascades, deep breaths and bliss will come easy. And so will getting outside! In addition to the property’s acre of gardens, we will be walking distance to the beach, kayaking and paddle boarding and a short drive to the town of Vashon which has a wonderful Farmers Market and trailheads for hiking.
What we eat matters. Join us for delightful plant-based organic meals lovingly prepared for you in house. Simple, whole and as local as possible ingredients will be used to create a nourishing and delicious dining experience inspired by a variety of ethnicities. We will also have our custom blended tea, coffee and light snacks available between meals. * Please notify us of any food allergies prior to registration and we will strive to accommodate you.
Yoga, Ceremony and Practice
We will open and close our time together by connecting with ourselves, the sacred directions, the land and each other. Our yoga classes will book-end our days. Mornings will begin in silence with an optional Meditation and Vinyasa Yoga practice that will get your blood and prana flowing. If the weather cooperates, plan to take your mats outside. In the evenings we will cool, soothe, and quiet the body, mind, and soul with Myofascial Release (self-massage), Restorative Yoga, Thai Yoga and Yoga Nidra. We will also guide you in taking your yoga practice off the mat, cultivating mindful awareness through various practices as you go throughout your day.
Free to Be
Your time on the island is precious -- use it to take the best care of you. Tap into your inner wisdom and make the choices that support your health and happiness, no questions asked. We will provide options, you recharge and recenter.
